Human Cities/SMOTIES Oberzeiring

In my second semester, I had the unique opportunity to collaborate with the SMOTIES project, which aims to support small and remote communities across Europe. Our focus was on the town of Oberzeiring, Austria, where my team delved into the narratives of local heroes and explored the significance of vacant properties in the area. During our six-day stay, we divided into smaller groups to gather rich stories and insights. My responsibility included capturing the essence of Oberzeiring’s local heroes through portraits that showcased their uniqueness and contributions to the community. In addition, I meticulously documented the town’s vacant houses, blending visual storytelling with narratives shared by residents. To culminate our project, we created engaging exhibition boards displayed in Oberzeiring’s main square. These boards featured our findings, photographs, and the heartfelt stories we collected, bringing the town’s vibrancy to life through both images and words.
